Restorative Center

Our mission is to empower individuals and families impacted by trauma and oppression

Our Vision

When people are stuck in cycles of abuse or systemic oppression, they can lose hope that real help will be available to them.  We are building hope that safety, security, and support can be a reality for everyone.  We are striving to create a world in which people can be met where they’re at and empowered toward their own healing and liberation.

Our Values

We are working to create a space that allows for authentic movement and expression for children, families, and individuals.  Our programs give families, groups, and individuals opportunities to play, connect, and experience joy.  We recognize that healing from trauma is not a quick or linear process and it requires patience and flexibility.  Healing from trauma often requires long term, consistent care.  We are striving to create a world in which the person beneath the trauma reaction can be seen and cared for in the way they’ve always needed to be cared for.

Through a shared leadership model and trauma-informed practices with all volunteers, we are creating a solid foundation of support for families and individuals in our community.  We are working to mitigate the burn-out and vicarious trauma that is often experienced by individuals working in a helping profession.  Our ability to support others comes from our own foundation of wellness and competence.  We believe in continued growth and learning.  We are striving to create services that are accessible to everyone.  We believe in cultural humility and are actively working on recognizing our own biases and learning from our inevitable mistakes.  As we develop authentic relationships as a team and with those we serve, we embrace our common humanity and learn from each other.

Our Community

The Restorative Center serves anyone impacted by intergenerational trauma or systemic oppression.  Our goal is to create a safe and inclusive space that reduces barriers for families and for those in underserved populations. We prioritize services for those with limited access to mental health care.  We work with individuals of all ages, and our services are designed to work with entire family systems as well.  It’s a space where kids can be kids, and where children and the adults in their lives can play and learn together.  The community as a whole benefits from the preventative work we do to end cycles of abuse and oppression.

Planting Seeds of Empowerment

You just lose hope that real help is available.” It’s a common refrain I hear in my counseling practice. Sometimes it refers to mental health treatment that isn’t trauma-informed. Sometimes it refers to systems people are navigating that aren’t built on a trauma model of care. Ultimately, it might look like this…

It takes a whole community
